Books

The first half of 2011 was almost entirely consumed with writing two books on Ableton Live for Hal Leonard publishing.

The first book is called Producing Music with Ableton Live 9, and is one long tutorial that walks a new user through many of the program’s features in a linear fashion, using an included sample pack to build a song from scratch to completion.  Aimed at a beginner to intermediate audience, this book will get readers up and running quickly by doing, rather than by reading.

The second book, Sound Design, Mixing and Mastering with Ableton Live 9 gets a bit more technical, and looks at each of these
three intermediate level topics in some depth.  Also included are continuing tutorials on MIDI, soft synths and mixing in Live, picking up exactly where the first book left off.  This book focuses more on creative techniques for sound design and mixing, as well as some methods for attempting to master your own recordings.

Third book, Power Tools for Ableton Live 9, is a combination of the tutorial parts of the first two books, and adds a new section on performing and DJing with Live.  Over at WarpAcademy.com I have an online course that accompanies this book entitled Ableton Live 9 Jumpsrtart.  If learning while doing is your preference, this online course is for you.
